UNESCO World Heritage Site | The City of Motovun is located in the central Istria, on an elevation that dominates over the valley of the Mirna River. It was developed on a sort of citadel, the site of a prehistoric hill-fort. During the middle Ages it changed various feudal masters and had a degree of city autonomy. In the period of 1278-1797, Motovun has been continuously under the Venetian rule.
